Non-Contact Liquid Level Measurement for Sealed Containers

As industrial automation, smart appliances, medical equipment, and new energy vehicles continue to evolve, liquid level sensing demands higher accuracy, greater reliability, and easier system integration. Conventional level sensors often require direct contact with the liquid or mechanical modification of the container, increasing installation complexity while introducing potential risks of leakage, contamination, and maintenance.

To address these challenges, ADW has developed a through-wall ultrasonic level sensor that enables precise liquid level measurement without contacting the medium or modifying the container. By penetrating metal or plastic walls, the sensor provides a reliable and efficient solution for monitoring liquid levels inside sealed containers.

Preserve Container Integrity with Non-Contact Measurement

Unlike conventional sensors, the ADW through-wall level sensor is mounted externally without drilling or direct contact with the liquid.

Leveraging proprietary ultrasonic signal processing technology, the sensor analyzes ultrasonic wave propagation through the container wall and liquid to accurately determine the liquid level. Installation is simple, requiring only attachment to the outer surface of the container while maintaining complete sealing integrity.

This makes the sensor particularly suitable for pressure vessels, hygienic processing systems, corrosive chemicals, and applications where contamination must be avoided.

Stable Accuracy for Demanding Applications

Reliable level monitoring requires not only precision but also long-term stability.

The sensor measures liquid levels from 15 mm to 500 mm with an accuracy of ±1 mm. Advanced digital compensation algorithms minimize the effects of temperature variation, container materials, and acoustic reflections, ensuring stable performance even under challenging operating conditions.

Whether monitoring small liquid volumes or continuously measuring storage tanks, the sensor delivers dependable performance for industrial automation systems.

Digital Communication for Easy Integration

Featuring a standard UART interface, the sensor outputs digital level data directly, eliminating the need for additional analog signal conditioning.

This simplifies integration with MCUs, PLCs, and IoT platforms, reducing development time while enabling intelligent monitoring, remote diagnostics, and automated process control.

Compact Design for Flexible System Integration

As modern equipment becomes increasingly compact, installation space is often limited.

The compact mechanical design allows the sensor to be easily integrated into equipment or mounted externally on containers, providing greater flexibility for industrial equipment, household appliances, and medical devices.

Applications

The ADW through-wall ultrasonic level sensor is ideal for a wide range of applications, including:

  • Coffee machines, water purifiers, humidifiers, and robotic vacuum cleaners
  • Medical equipment and laboratory analyzers
  • Lubrication systems, coolant reservoirs, and chemical storage tanks
  • Automotive AdBlue®, washer fluid, and thermal management systems
  • Smart agriculture irrigation and fertilizer monitoring
  • Beverage dispensers and commercial liquid handling equipment

Advancing Intelligent Level Measurement

By combining non-contact sensing, millimeter-level accuracy, and digital communication, the ADW through-wall ultrasonic level sensor overcomes many limitations of traditional level sensing technologies.

ADW continues to advance ultrasonic sensing technology, delivering reliable sensing solutions that support industrial automation, intelligent manufacturing, healthcare, and next-generation smart devices worldwide.
